Can my family or friends join
me?
Yes, in fact this is frequently the
case. Most other ski areas charge for extra people in private
lessons. At Telluride Ski and Snowboard School we do not charge
for extra students. However, keep in mind that guests of
different ability levels or goals and objectives may not be able to ski
on the same runs. It would be inappropriate to mix a first timer
with an intermediate level skier. While I can give the
intermediate skills to work on while on the beginner run while teaching
the beginner, the intermediate really should be applying their skills on
more advanced terrain. The key to success with a multiple person
lesson is that the guests are content to ski the same runs at similar
speeds. I often split the lesson hours among the different levels
of guests throughout the day - maybe the beginner in the morning and the
expert in the afternoon. I can even teach downhill skiing in the
morning and snowboarding in the afternoon if that works for your
situation.
I ski but my kids snowboard.
Can you teach us both?
Yes. I am a dual discipline
certified ski and snowboard instructor. You may want me to get the
kids started on snowboards in the morning while you warm up on skis.
Then during lunch I change into ski boots and ski with you after lunch.
This way you can book a full day lesson with one instructor instead of
two instructors for half days and save a few bucks if this works for
your scheduling needs. Though I have worked with skiers and
snowboarders simultaneously while I'm on one type of equipment it is
difficult to perform effective demonstrations of skill movements.
It only takes me about 10 minutes to change gear so splitting the lesson
is really best.
